In May 2023, the Vale children who attend Belmont Juniors in Year Six visited the Imperial War Museum to learn more about the effects of war on our local area. While they were there, they had a chance to look at some of the exhibits. They were particularly fond of the tanks and old cars.
As well, they heard from 93 year old Kitty, who was an evacuee during the second world war. She told the children all about her experiences of being evacuated from London; at first she thought she was just going away for the weekend, but in reality, the experience lasted much longer.
This was a great experience for the children to understand more about a really important period in history.
