Music Therapy

Music Therapy

Music therapy at the Vale aims to support students in various ways including their social communication, emotional expression, emotional regulation and mental health needs.

Music therapy primarily involves interactive music making. This can include improvising with the therapist on instruments, singing, listening to music, learning songs, songwriting and dance and movement. Students’ responses within the sessions inform the direction and aims of the therapy, alongside their referral information.

Music therapy sessions at the Vale are tailored towards each individual students’ needs. Long- and short-term sessions are available in both individual and group settings. Music Therapists practising in the UK are required to be registered by the Health and Care Professions Council.
