Child and Family Liaison Officer

CHILD AND FAMILY LIAISON (PASTORAL) / SENIOR ADMIN OFFICER 

32.5 hours x 40 weeks 

£30,151-£33,945 (SO1) 

(From September 2024) 

Vale School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, suitably qualified and experienced Child and Family Liaison (Pastoral)/Senior Admin Officer. 

The successful candidate will ideally have: 

  • Educated to at least Level 3 including GCSEs in English and Maths, at grade A-C 

  • Excellent numeracy/literacy skills 

  • Evidence of keeping up to date with relevant training 

  • Experience of working with families with proven knowledge and commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. 

  • Experience of using and maintaining School MIS system 

  • Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with colleagues/partners, children and young people and/or vulnerable adults. 

  • Full working knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation. 

  • Excellent ICT skills, including ability to write reports and e-mails, work with spreadsheets and social media. 

  • Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to relate well to children and adults. 

  • Work constructively and flexibly as part of a team, understanding school roles and responsibilities. 

  • Ability to persuade, motivate, negotiate and influence. 

  • Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities. 

  • Ability to engage with multi-agency support and to motivate additional support processes. 

  • Ability to work proactively, plan and organise work in order to meet project targets and deadlines. 

  • Knowledge and understanding of working with families requiring emotional support. 

  • Ability to deal calmly with different situations as they arise. 

  • Develop good relationships with pupils, parents and staff. 

  • Understand and respect the principles of confidentiality. 

  • Approachable with a good sense of humour. 

  • A strong sense of professionalism.  

  • Willingness to undertake further training. 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to work on own initiative Well organised with good time management skills 

  • Proactive pleasant, friendly manner 

  • Where appropriate, to attend events and meetings outside normal schools hours. 

  • To undertake flexible working hours, working a split when required.
